Current Exhibit
VALLEY ARK: Life Along the Rio
Ansen and Jan Seale
The exhibit consists of fifteen photographs by Ansen Seale with accompanying poems by Jan Seale. These framed works are part of a larger group collected in a book published in 2005 by the Seales titled Valley Ark, with fifty coupled photos and poems of flora and fauna of the Rio Grande Valley. The book is available in the gift store at Quinta Mazatlan.
The photographer, a professional art and commercial photographer in San Antonio, was born and raised in the Valley. His photographic work has been exhibited widely across the Southwest, and in Chicago and Los Angeles. Ansen commented, “It is a pleasure to join with Quinta Mazatlan and businessmen like Neal King to help showcase the incredible natural landscape of the Valley.”
The poet, a McAllen resident for many years, has been active in environmental causes to preserve local wildlife habitat. “Ansen and I wanted simply to celebrate the wonderful creatures and plants of this unique area. We wanted to be counted with so many others who are working to preserve the Valley’s precious environment.”
