Summer 2018 Schedule:
  • June: POLLINATOR POWER! - Inside our gates, our native plants are blooming! Many flowers give off a slightly sweet fragrance to attract bees and other insects to pollinate them! Join us as we learn more about pollinators! Make flower crafts, identify pollinators around Quinta Mazatlan, and buzz through a lot of fun. Every Saturday in June from 11 am- Noon. $3 fee (includes park admission). All ages welcome.

  • July: PRICKLY PEAR SECRETS! - Prickly pear cactus used to be a staple in the diet of humans that lived in the RGV many years ago. The cactus pads, or paddles, can be used in salads, soups, and appetizers. The juice is used to flavor beverages, and the tunas are made into candy, jelly, and sweet desserts. Go on a prickly pear hunt around Quintas' gardens, then make your own prickly pear cactus to learn about the power of every part. Maybe youll even learn how to make a delicious treat out of this wonderful flora! Every Saturday in July from 11 am- Noon. $3 fee (includes park admission). All ages welcome.

  • August: REPTILE ROUND-UP! - Critters and crawlers are coming out to play at Quinta Mazatlan! The fun starts with a short presentation on the native reptiles and amphibians that can be found crawling around our neighborhoods or hiding in some of the more wild places of the LRGV. Make a slithery craft, then visit with our live pet snakes and Texas Tortoise. Every Saturday in August from 11 am- Noon. $3 fee (includes park admission). All ages welcome.
