Overview
Students will enjoy “digging into science” as they collect and evaluate soil samples from our unique region. They will explore moisture capacity, texture, color, smell, and the presence of organic materials in the soil. As a soil scientist, students will draw conclusions on the types of soil, as well as climate, that plants require for survival in South Texas. Students will become aware of the direct connection between soil, plants and animals found at Quinta Mazatlan based on the availability of food, shelter, water and space.
