Nature Treasure Hunt

Overview

Children will learn and explore the natural world around them.  The multi-center experience includes story time, puppets, songs, trail and lab time with hand lenses, and an eco-art activity. Age appropriate curriculum includes:  Learning about tortoises, plants and plant parts, birds and nests. Note: Teachers are encouraged to bring a snack and drink for the students in addition to their lunch.

Program Highlights

  • Observe and name three parts of a tortoise
  • Identify 3 characteristics of a tortoise’s behavior
  • Describe habitat of a tortoise and compare to a turtle’s habitat
  • Name 4 parts of a plant
  • Discuss 3 uses of plants
  • Observe nature’s interaction with plants
  • Name 4 elements of habitat
  • Compare the shape, size, and materials used in nest making
