Date: Saturday mornings or afternoons
Time: 9:00 am to 11:00 am or 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Fee: $6.00 per student
Attendance: Minimum 10 students or $60 program fee
Registration: Advance payment and preparation are required.

Activities:

  • Go on a nature walk to look at birds, butterflies, and plants, collecting seeds and flowers from the nature trails and gardens.
  • Plant a seed in a recyclable container to take home, and learn about the importance of growing new native plants.
  • Make a bird feeder that will bring birds to your back yard, and learn about birds that live in the Valley.
  • Make bird feed – learn about 4 ways to feed birds in your back yard
  • Plant a Butterfly plant to help save nature.
  • “Be a Butterfly” –an interactive lesson in which daisies will learn what it is like to go through a butterfly’s life cycle.

“USING RESOURCES WISELY”

GREEN

Activities:
  • Plant a seed in a recyclable container to take home, and learn about the importance of growing new native plants.
  • Make a bird feeder out of mesquite logs
  • Trash Relay Race: Learn how to separate trash into recyclable, trash, and compost in a fun relay game.
  • Visit the compost bin, dig in the soil, and learn about “de-composers”, and create a “soil zoo”.
  • Create a nature craft that demonstrates how to “use resources wisely.”
