Story-Telling Trees
Overview
Trace the roots of our community by going on a tree walk with your class. With challenging questions and insightful information students will learn about native trees in the RGV and gain a better understanding of the value of each tree.
Program Highlights
- Discuss the importance of trees in our lives
- Discover the values and benefits trees provide wildlife and man
- Study the details of each tree (leaf shape & color, bark color & texture, height & diameter, flowers & seeds)
- Examine cross sections of trees and infer from tree rings the environmental conditions
- Identify poisonous and edible plant parts
- Identify organisms that live in, on and under fallen logs
- Describe the process of decomposition
