Mayor's Monarch Pledge

The City of McAllen has worked to raise awareness for the Monarch butterfly and to make conservation efforts through the Mayors Monarch Pledge with the National Wildlife Federation. The Mayors’ Monarch Pledge (MMP for short) consists of creating habitat for the Monarch butterfly and other pollinators as well as having community outreach and education initiatives. These action items include creating demonstration gardens, host native plant sales or giveaways, plant pollinator-friendly plants along roadsides, along with encouraging McAllen residents to add pollinator-friendly plants to their spaces. View our Community Profile on the National Wildlife Federation website.
